Oscillometry
Modern method for airway assessment

Quick Information
Oscillometry
Oscillometry is a modern method for assessing airways without effort for the patient. It measures airway resistance and lung tissue elasticity during quiet breathing.
Oscillometry uses the principle of forced oscillations to measure the mechanical properties of the respiratory system. It is more sensitive than spirometry in detecting peripheral airway obstruction.
Especially suitable for children, seniors or patients who cannot perform standard spirometry.
When is oscillometry used?
Examination Preparation
No special preparation required, the patient only breathes quietly
Why is it important?
Oscillometry provides information about airway function even in patients who are unable to actively cooperate during classical functional examinations.
